Why We Recommend it

The 2020 Sovereign Asian Art Prize Finalists Exhibition brings together diverse works by 31 shortlisted contemporary artists from all over Asia.

Description

The Finalists Exhibition of the 2020 Sovereign Asian Art Prize (SAF) showcases a diverse presentation of works by 31 shortlisted artists. The prize is known as Asia’s most prestigious award for contemporary artists.

This year’s 31 finalists hail from 18 countries and territories across Asia-Pacific. Hong Kong has the strongest representation with four artists shortlisted, followed by South Korea and Indonesia with three artists each. Adding to the diverse roster, this year’s shortlist also includes three artists from Central Asia – Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, specifically.

Visitors of the exhibition will be invited to cast a vote for their favourite artist to win a Public Vote Prize of US$1,000. Votes will also be accepted via web gallery and their Facebook page, closing 12 July. A virtual tour of the exhibition will also be available online.

Besides the exhibition, SAF will present an educational programme in partnership with K11 Art Foundation. Self-guided learning kits and an interactive education corner will be offered to visitors of all ages, offering a fun art-based learning experience that encourages critical thinking. Self-guided resources will also be available for download on K11 Art Foundation’s and SAF’s websites.

The artworks will be available for bidding via online auction commencing 3 June at
saapauction.com, and proceeds will be split evenly between the artists and charitable programmes for disadvantaged children in Asia.
