Why We Recommend it
From 2 to 15 October, the Spanish Film Festival 2025 will show six award-winning films from the past two years.
Description
Co-organised by Broadway Cinematheque and the Consulate General of Spain in Hong Kong, the Spanish Film Festival 2025 runs from 2 to 15 October, showcasing six acclaimed films released in the past two years.
Three films feature stories about family. Deaf by Eva Libertad portrays the experience, worries and fears of deaf mothers. Lucia Casañ Rodríguez’s A Bathroom of One’s Own explores the life of a housewife who retreats to the bathroom to pursue her love of writing. The comedy film A House on Fire directed by Dani de la Orden tells the story of a divorcee who tries to organise a family reunion at her seaside holiday house.
Based on real events, The 47 by director Marcel Barrena follows a bus driver who hijacks a bus to help the residents of Torreo Baró, an impoverished neighbourhood in Barcelona. The thriller film Undercover, meanwhile, tells the story of an undercover Spanish police officer infiltrating the Basque separatist group ETA. Saturn Return is a part-biographical, part-fictional exploration of Granadan indie rock group’s journey in recording their third LP.
Screenings will be held at Broadway Cinematheque, Palace IFC and MOViE MOViE Cityplaza.
