Spotlight: A Season of Performing Arts 2026

Why We Recommend it

Entering its sixth edition, Spotlight: A Season of Performing Arts 2026 turns Tai Kwun into a playground for bold, interdisciplinary collaborations between Hong Kong and international artists.

Description

Spotlight: A Season of Performing Arts 2026 spotlights interdisciplinary collaborations that stretch the language of performance. Anchored in Tai Kwun’s distinctive heritage spaces, this sixth edition explores new relationships between bodies, images, sound and architecture.

From 26 to 29 March, Korean cross-disciplinary artist Geumhyung Jeong opens the season with Fire Drill Scenario, an intriguing “escape” that reimagines Tai Kwun from unexpected angles. Between 8 to 16 April, Songs of Being brings together three of Hong Kong’s leading creative talents: composer Daniel Lo, media artist Keith Lam and choral conductor Sanders Lau in a riveting choral and multimedia journey inspired by William Blake. From 23 to 26 April, the international commission The Liar marks acclaimed Danish director Tue Biering’s Asian debut with Hong Kong actor Chan Tai-yin, where lives on and off stage blur.

Tai Kwun has also been dedicated to nurturing talent. This year, the new series Play Reading (2–21 April) sessions to contemporary dance double-bill Between Selves (15–18 April) and closing work On the Up Grade (30 April–3 May), a first time theatrical collaboration between choreographer ErGao and visual artist Cao Fei.
