Tai Kwun Art Week: A Period of Unparalleled Art

Why We Recommend it
Immerse yourself in Tai Kwun’s first-ever Art Week, a celebration showcasing the cultural institution’s own exhibitions and those by commercial galleries, alongside live art performances.
Description
A dynamic celebration of art and culture, Tai Kwun’s inaugural Art Week features three solo exhibitions by a trio of female artists Alicja Kwade, Hu Xiaoyuan and Maeve Brennan, each exploring themes such as time, destiny and environmental impact. Live art notably includes Lawrence Lek’s live performance called NOX and immersive film screening at Tai Kwun’s open space venue, Laundry Steps, which blends Sino-futurism with electronic soundscapes, and Bleeding into the Metaverse, a digital dance party promoting body diversity will light up F Hall Studio.
Commercial galleries will host a range of exciting exhibitions. For example, Kwai Fung-hin will showcase The Voice in the Mirror, a solo exhibition of paintings, sculptures, ceramics and tapestries by Venezuelan artist Oswaldo Vigas, who is one of the most important figures in Latin American modern art. Elsewhere, Beneath the Golden Canopy at MASSIMODECARLO will highlight Chinese-Canadian artist Dominique Fung’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, where her new series of works explore history, power and cultural memory through a lens of longing and diasporic connection. This week-long event promises to be an unforgettable experience, further elevating Tai Kwun’s status as a vibrant hub of creativity.
