Tai Kwun’s Chilled Steps Returns with Al Fresco Jazz Soundscapes

Why We Recommend it
This September, Tai Kwun’s Chilled Steps joins forces with First Half Arts in Concept to present Boundless Soundscapes, a three-day mini music festival bringing American jazz together with global musical traditions, from Gypsy swing to Latin rhythms.
Description
Curated by Tai Kwun and First Half Arts in Concept, Chilled Steps: Boundless Soundscapes celebrates the rich fusion of American jazz with musical traditions from around the world.
From Gypsy swing to Latin rhythms, the three-day festival features Hong Kong and international musicians. Kicking off the event on 18 September is Latin Variations, featuring jazz icon Patrick Lui performing with a new generation of young jazz talents in a Hong Kong-meets-Brazil take on modern Latin jazz. The following day features Melodies from Tin Pan Alley to Today, a jazz performance spanning classic Tin Pan Alley and contemporary vocal expression, with vocalists Mandy Chan and Rachel Sung. The mini-festival wraps up on 20 September with Contemporary Gypsy Vibes, a vibrant fusion of contemporary Gypsy sounds and Cantonese folk music, performed by guitarist Huang Zhihong and local violinist Bob Pang.
First introduced to audiences in March 2021, Chilled Steps is a series of live concerts curated by Hong Kong musicians, showcasing a diverse range of musical styles. No registration is required and the event is free to attend.
