Description
Discover Takanori Suga’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong at Boogie Woogie Photography with his unique works painted on vintage Japanese kimonos, oil paintings on wearable shoes and new pieces from his celebrated series of deer skulls.
The exhibition’s title, Of Silk and Soil, symbolises the duality at the heart of Suga’s work. “Silk” refers to the precious kimonos once worn by his grandmother, now transformed into living canvases that carry the delicate weight of family memory and cultural heritage. Meanwhile “soil” represents the earth itself, the literal ground on which the Japanese artist discovered and painted deer skulls, and serves as a metaphor for origins, decay and rebirth.
