Description
Toshiro Mifune is famous for being one of the world’s best samurai actors. But he offered audiences much more than macho portrayals of powerful warlords. His versatility as an actor spanned genres, ranging from classical tragedy to light comedy.
His screen persona inspired Hollywood filmmakers; He was George Lucas’ ideal actor for the role of Darth Vader, whose helmet was designed with Mifune in mind.
The event, organised by the Hong Kong International Film Festival, will screen seven of Mifune’s best feature films, including ‘The Rickshaw Man’ (1958), ‘High and Low’ (1963), and the Best Actor Award-winning ‘movie Red Beard’ (1965). Additionally, a documentary about his life, ‘Mifune: The Last Samurai’ (2015), will be shown.
