“The Helper”: A screening of new local Documentary on migrant domestic workers

Why We Recommend it
The Helper (2017) by filmmaker Joanna Bowers chronicles the diverse stories from Hong Kong’s migrant domestic workers. This free screening, hosted by the Jewish Film Festival, will be introduced by Bowers.
Description
There are more than 330,000 migrant domestic workers living in Hong Kong. The Helper documentary— brought to life through a crowdfunding campaign–uncovers the inspiring combination of grit, pride and determination that drives the domestic worker community.
Telling just a few of their many stories that show the contribution helpers make to Hong Kong society, The Helper is created to give a human face to an often-critiqued community, and to shed light on the sacrifices they make to support families – both in Hong Kong and at home.
The screening will start at 7:30pm. Interested parties are asked to RSVP by sending an email to enquiries@jcc.org.hk
