Oscar-winning Hong Kong art director and designer Tim Yip’s multidisciplinary works and his collaborations with some of the world’s best filmmakers are brought to life in an exhibition organised by the Hong Kong Design Institute. 

Description

Tim Yip: Blue – Art, Costumes and Memory is the first large-scale solo exhibition in Hong Kong to pay tribute to the Award-winning art director’s career that spans three decades. 

Tip Yip (b. 1967) is best known for his work on the wuxia film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), for which he won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction, as well as a BAFTA award for the film’s costume design.

This exhibition captures the evolution of his artistic journey through his iconic costume designs, which are exhibited alongside photography and films which illustrate his aesthetic concepts and cultural interpretations.
