The Living Field: Lao Tongli’s First Hong Kong Solo Exhibition

Why We Recommend it
The Living Field showcases contemporary Chinese artist Lao Tongli’s long-developed gongbi heavy-colour painting practice in exploration of the body, nature, memory and living systems.
Description
The Living Field refers to both a field where life circulates and grows across land, climate, the body and memory, as well as the artist’s reactivation of gongbi heavy-colour painting within a contemporary context.
Hosted at at INKstudio, Lao Tongli’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong traces key trajectories in the artist’s practice since 2013, including “Desire of Libido”, “Trees on the Other Shore”, “Self and Other” and his recent work “In and Out of the Clouds”.
In his paintings, blood vessels, branches, tree canopies, skies, human bodies and clouds interpenetrate and generate one another, evoking reflections on vital circulation, familial memory, ecological relationships, and cosmic order.
