The Mad Monk: A Chinese Folk Tale for Children

Why We Recommend it
Combining classical music and theatre, this show provides a fun way to discover Chinese folk tales.
Description
The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre have joined forces to present “The Mad Monk”, a performance aimed at children aged three and over.
“The Mad Monk” tells the story of an eccentric monk who refuses to follow tradition and who is challenged in battle by the Eight Immortals, the upholders of propriety.
But neither side can win as their magical powers are equally strong, and as the battle wages, the Eight Immortals also discover another side to the Mad Monk: That he is actually a nice and much-loved person.
On finding this out, the Eight Immortals offer to make peace. They then join forces to present music produced for children by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra over the past four decades.
N.B. The play will be performed in Cantonese, and there are no subtitles.
