The Paintings and Porcelain of Lingnan School Artists Chao Shao-an and Yang Shanshen

Why We Recommend it

This exhibit demonstrates how the tender friendship between master painters Chao Shao-an and Yang Shanshen inspired the moving and forward-thinking art they created together.

Description

Both Chao and Yang settled in Hong Kong in the 1940s and often met together in the historic Lingnan Studio. They spent their leisure time together and created paintings as a team.

A new friendship with owner of Yuet Ting China Works, Tso Wing Shu, brought about a new creative project: painting on porcelain in their own style.

This exhibition features works on paper and porcelain that they made together, selected from private, unpublished collections.
