The Soul of the Elephant: Documentary Screening

Why We Recommend it
This poignant documentary exploring the bonds that elephants make and enjoy through their life will be screened followed by a Q&A with the producers.
Description
In The Soul of the Elephant, South African award-winning filmmakers, National Geographic Explorers-in-Residence and wildlife conservationists Dereck and Beverly Joubert take an intimate look at one of the World’s most sensitive and intelligent animals.
The pair tracks the length of a river in the Selinda reserve in Botswana, which is home to over 7,000 elephants, capturing amazing up-close footage of elephants.
The discovery of two bull elephants’ skulls with the ivory still intact inspires the Jouberts to reconstruct the lives the elephants would have led, whether that was their great migration for water with their families or even their inevitable encounters with lions. This story shows the odds that these elephants would have had to surpass to attain this old age.
