Trevor Yeung Returns from Venice Biennale to M+

Why We Recommend it
Trevor Yeung unveils Courtyard of Detachments at M+, reconfiguring his Venice Biennale exhibition to examine the emotional and ecological disconnects that define contemporary society.
Description
Courtyard of Detachments by Trevor Yeung arrives at M+ as a new adaptation of his Venice Biennale solo project, Courtyard of Attachments, Hong Kong in Venice. Through installations that combine staged objects, living plants, and aquatic life, Trevor Yeung explores the intricate relationships between people and ecosystems. In this museum setting, the exhibition shifts focus to broader environmental and systemic questions, considering how closed systems—whether natural or artificial—shape emotions and structures of power in society.
In Hong Kong, Trevor Yeung is known for mixed media works that draw on botanic ecology and personal experience, often inviting viewers to feel rather than simply observe. Curated by Olivia Chow, this response exhibition is part of the ongoing collaboration between M+ and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, reinforcing Hong Kong’s engagement with the Venice Biennale. Visitors are encouraged to contemplate the fragility and complexity of attachments, both human and ecological, through Trevor Yeung’s distinctive perspective.
