Tsui Chee Kui Joseph’s Landscape Paintings

Why We Recommend it

This exhibition features a series of semi-abstract landscape paintings made in the 1970s to 1990s by local artist Tsui Chee Kui Joseph.

Description

Born in 1937, Hong Kong painter Tsui Chee Kui Joseph (徐志鉅) started making art in 1952 and specialises in oil painting.  This exhibition features views of Hong Kong and mainland China made in the late 20th century.

Tsui’s work is characterised by semi-abstract depictions and his use of geometric blocks of contrasting tones, and colour-blocking to create the illusion of a pattern. His work also has a touch of traditional Chinese painting because of his manipulation of empty space.
