Film: Sho Miyake’s Two Seasons, Two Strangers

Description

Based on two short stories by comic artist Yoshiharu Tsuge, the award-winning Japanese film Two Seasons, Two Strangers explores two unexpected encounters that reflect on the meaning of the journey.

Directed by Sho Miyake, a prominent voice in contemporary Japanese cinema, this drama brings Tsuge’s manga to the silver screen with fable-like storytelling and modern sensibilities. Through striking landscapes, fleeting encounters and inexplicable moments of oddity, the film humorously captures the primal joys of travel and the quiet absurdity of being human, featuring a cast of endearing characters — including South Korean actress Shin Eun-kyung, winner of the Japan Academy Prize, and Japanese actress Yuumi Kawai.
