Wang Xin Reimagines the Diamond Pine

Why We Recommend it

Ink artist Wang Xin’s new exhibition transforms the pine tree into an artistic meditation on stillness and impermanence.

Description

In Reimagining the Diamond Pine, ink artist and seal carver Wang Xin brings the timeless image of the pine tree into a new realm of reflection. Deeply influenced by his study of the Diamond Sutra, Wang’s large-scale ink compositions explore different Buddhist concepts like impermanence. Neither intended to illustrate the scripture nor follow its narrative, these meditative landscapes channel its spirit — where clarity arises through stillness and meaning through absence. Balancing finely rendered rocks and trees against void spaces, Wang transforms the pine from a symbol of endurance into a quiet expression of peaceful isolation.

Born in Xingtai in 1964, Wang graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1991. He currently lives in Beijing, where he teaches Master of Fine Arts students at the Communication University of China.
