UP // DOWN : A Photographic Tribute to Hilly Hong Kong by Instagram Heavyweights

Why We Recommend it

Four Hong Kong-based influential Instagram photographers―Jeremy Cheung (@rambler15), Sunny Liu (@sunny_liu), Hans Leo Maes (@typicalplan) and Kevin Mak (@kingymak)―have curated an exhibition showcasing their own works that depict Hong Kong’s sloped cityscape.

Description

Entitled UP // DOWN : HILLSIDE HONG KONG, the exhibition consists of a collection of sixteen phone-sized photographs-turned-large prints, captured in different Hong Kong hillside locations. The photos explore the topographical inclinations from upward or downward perspectives.  Also highlighted in the works are traces of the urban life, the different meanings of ‘up & down’ in society and history.

The topic is curated specifically by the aspiring photographers who are active on Instagram. In this collection, they capture the layered beauty of the city with gritty realism, avoiding the current trend of creating over-saturated “visual candy” images.

UP // DOWN : HILLSIDE HONG KONG will be the inaugural exhibition of newly opened event venue NU Space. On the opening day of the exhibition, all photographers will be present to meet the public.
