The Villepin House: Revisiting Five Years of Art

Why We Recommend it
In Villepin’s anniversary exhibition, the gallery revisits five of the artists featured in its past exhibitions, displaying among other works a newly commissioned tapestry of Zao Wou-Ki’s 2004 “Le vent pousse la mer.”
Description
In its past five years in Hong Kong, Villepin has presented boldly curated exhibitions, transforming its space in delivering enveloping experiences. To celebrate its fifth anniversary, Villepin is hosting The Villepin House, an exhibition revisiting five of the artists who were previously featured at the gallery, including the distinguished Zao Wou-Ki. The exhibition notably features a newly commissioned tapestry of Zao’s “Le vent pousse la mer,” woven by the Pinton workshop, in almost the identical size as Zao’s original 2004 triptych oil painting.
Opening in 2020, Villepin was founded by father-son duo Dominique (former prime minister of France) and Arthur de Villepin. The gallery had previously brought to Hong Kong works by celebrated French artists including Pierre Soulages and Georges Mathieu.
