Why We Recommend it

Explore Walasse Ting’s artistic evolution through Joy, Temptation and Magic at Alisan Fine Arts, which highlights the artist’s expansive journey through both Western and Asian art styles.

Description

Walasse Ting’s extensive legacy is presented through Alisan Fine Arts’ survey exhibition Joy, Temptation and Magic. This exhibition features paintings from each stage of his career, from his lesser-known black-on-white works such as “I Love You” (1959), to his Pop Art lithographs in “Summer Symphony (Painted with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4)” (1967), and his experimental acrylic paintings from the 1970s and 80s. Joy, Temptation and Magic also includes “Nine Rainbow Parrots 1” (1990s), a testament to his ability to work with both Western and Chinese artistic methods.

Ting’s art bridges Western art movements such as CoBrA, Abstract Expressionism, and Pop Art with Chinese artistic traditions. His works have been collected by major museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Guggenheim Museum in New York, as well as the Tate Gallery in London.
