WestK Cabaret Festival: Alex Lam in A Cantopop Odyssey

Why We Recommend it

Musician Alex Lam’s sci‑fi cabaret 3026: A Cantopop Odyssey journeys from the 1980s to the year 3026, tracing family, memory and music.

Description

In 3026: A Cantopop Odyssey, Alex Lam steps into the year 3026, where artificial intelligence rules and humanity faces shutdown. As the son of legendary singer George Lam, Alex journeys back through memory, music and imagination to rediscover the songs and stories that once defined his family.

Set as a multi‑act cabaret, the show weaves past, present and future, drawing on 1980s Cantopop, cinematic nostalgia and local melodies to explore love, legacy and what it means to be human. Joined by a five‑piece band, the Lunar Antz Youth Chorus and a special mystery guest, Lam crafts a time‑traveling odyssey that asks: if music is our last proof of value, what does it tell machines — or ourselves — about who we are?
