Xiqu Centre Presents New Tea House Theatre Experience

Why We Recommend it

Enjoy Cantonese opera in snippets while drinking tea with a new programme of short performances at the Xiqu Centre’s Tea House Theatre.

Description

The Xiqu Centre at the West Kowloon Cultural District is a haven for fans and practitioners of the art of Chinese opera, often referred to by its Mandarin name, xiqu. As daily lives begin to resume normal, the Xiqu Centre welcomes visitors again with its new programme at the Tea House Theatre.

The 90-minute programme will focus on the theme Stories of Life, which includes excerpts from Cantonese opera classics The Butterfly Lovers and The White Dragon Pass. The programme features talented young artists and musicians from the Xiqu Centre’s Tea House Rising Stars Troupe, who have been nurtured by renowned Cantonese opera actor, artistic curator and director Law Kar-ying.
