Young Soy Gallery’s Upcoming Show Defies Workplace Inequities

Why We Recommend it
Young Soy Gallery presents a group exhibition in a vacant office with five Hong Kong artists, including Go Hung, Louie Jaubere, OBSRVR, Plastered 8 and Riya Chandiramani.
Description
Set in an empty office in Central, the Re:Urgent exhibition challenges the workplace’s systemic inequalities and power structures with humour. Featuring five artists Go Hung, Riya Chandiramani, Louie Jaubere, Plastered 8 and OBSRVR, the show critiques societal norms through satire and wit.
While sculpture artist Go Hung highlights systemic inequalities by shedding light on the underprivileged, painter Riya Chandiramani focuses on dismantling patriarchal and capitalist stigmas affecting women’s narratives. Louie Jaubere crafts collages from pop-culture and historical fragments, illustrating how cultural icons shape daily life. Mixed media artists Plastered 8 and OBSRVR use satire to expose the absurdities in “perfect” systems.
By engaging with this corporate backdrop, visitors become part of an exhibition that extends beyond office walls, reflecting broader societal issues prevalent in Hong Kong workplaces like gender inequality.
