Why We Recommend it

Kicking off with the long-awaited local animated feature Another World, the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival presents an exciting selection of features, shorts, documentaries and retrospectives.

Description

Organised by the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival Society in cooperation with Broadway Cinematheque, the 22nd edition of the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (HKAFF) opens with the long-awaited local animated feature Another World, which blends Buddhist philosophy with Eastern aesthetics.

Closing the festival are two highly anticipated new Hong Kong films: the inspirational comedy Pass and Goal, which will have its world premiere at the festival, tells a heartwarming and humorous story about pursuing dreams through football; and the Hong Kong-Japan co-produced action film Road to Vendetta, which follows a mysterious assassin organisation operating under the guise of a noodle shop.

Alongside the local films, highlights include a special selection from notable Thai filmmaker Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit, featuring the premiere of his latest work, Human Resource, and a talk following the screening of Die Tomorrow. A group of well-known directors will also visit the city with their films, including South Korean director Yoon Ga-eun with her acclaimed new film The World of Love, Taiwanese director Julian Chou’s Blind Love, and Singaporean director Ong Kuo Sin’s A Good Child.
