Louis Koo Takes Centre Stage at 49th Hong Kong International Film Festival

During the 49th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF49), the spotlight will shine on Louis Koo Tin-lok, a true icon of Hong Kong cinema. As this year’s Filmmaker in Focus, Koo’s journey from television to film will be celebrated through a retrospective of his 10 most influential works. Notable films that he starred in include Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In (2024), Warriors of Future (2022) and his breakout role in The Suspect (1998) amongst others. 

Koo will also engage in a face-to-face session, sharing his unique insights and vision with the public. Through the establishment of his film company called One Cool Group, the star has been instrumental in nurturing the next generation of film stars and further enriching Hong Kong cinema, making this event a must-attend for cinephiles.

Alongside showcasing Koo and his works, this year’s film festival will host face-to-face sessions with prominent international filmmakers such as Leos Carax, Juho Kuosmanen, Albert Serra and Ando Sakura. Overall, it is worth noting that the programme will also feature nearly 200 films from across the world selected from more than 3,000 titles.
