Explore Memory and Experience in AAA’s New Show

Why We Recommend it
Explore the intricate relationship between time and artistic expression in Countering Time. While our daily lives are governed by precise measurements, the experience of time often eludes such definitions, stretching and shifting in unpredictable ways.
Description
Countering Time at the Asia Art Archive showcases new works from artists Merve Ünsal, Simon Leung, Gala Porras-Kim and Lee Weng Choy, developed over six months of collaborative dialogue. Ünsal engages with a centuries-old sinkhole, using her body to highlight the intersection of human and geological time. Leung reinterprets a 1967 photograph from Hong Kong, exploring its layered histories. Porras-Kim reflects on forgotten artworks and archives, while Choy incorporates personal notes to navigate his own experiences of time.
Together, these artists challenge traditional notions of archives as static records, presenting them instead as vibrant spaces for imagination and reinterpretation. This exhibition encourages viewers to rethink how we perceive and relate to time within both art and life.
