Stay Connected, Part 2 at Tai Kwun: Supplying the Globe

Why We Recommend it
Stay Connected: Supplying the Globe examines China’s role in global production through contemporary art exploring labour, ecology and connection.
Description
Across three floors of JC Contemporary and F Hall, Stay Connected: Supplying the Globe gathers over 70 works by more than 40 artists and collectives, from Lap-See Lam and Musquiqui Chihying to Zhang Ruyi, Zheng Yuan and Foreign Investment. The show features installations, performances and participatory projects exploring the unseen infrastructure and human stories behind the world’s flows of goods and labour. Stay Connected: Supplying the Globe also presents commissioned artworks by Mark Chung, Ocean Leung and Li Yifan.
Curated by Tai Kwun’s head of art Pi Li and senior curator Ying Kwok, this second chapter of Stay Connected: Art and China Since 2008 shifts focus from the digital sphere to the material one. It traces China’s transformation into a global manufacturing hub, inviting viewers to question how economic growth, migration and ecological change reshape human connection in an era of worldwide interdependence.
Alongside the exhibition, there will also be a series of cross-disciplinary activities including curatorial talks, family and teachers’ programmes, and the launch of a companion publication produced in collaboration with Asia Art Archive (Hong Kong).
